What the Old Wives' Tales Say About Whether You'll Have a Boy or a Girl
An article from AmericanBaby.com
By Jenny Saltiel with Lexi Walters

Old wives' tales are little more than super-circulated rumors. Never proven to be true, they're sayings and adages that generations of women have passed down to one another regarding family health ("Eating carrots improves your vision"), safe parenting ("Wait an hour after eating before swimming"), and -- most popularly -- pregnancy. Whether you're trying to guess your own baby's gender or looking for shower games for a friend, read on for the top ways women have guessed: boy or girl?

Sleep Position
Pay attention to which way you lay down in bed tonight. If you prefer sleeping on your left side, you'll have a boy. Right side? Your pregnant with a girl.

Verdict: Boy. I always sleep on my left side if not on my stomach.

Upset Stomach
Little girls aren't always sweet. Extreme nausea means you are having a daughter.

Verdict: undetermined. Demends on the day and how they classify "extreme"

Soft or Dry Hands
If your hands are dry during pregnancy, you are having a boy; soft -- expect a girl.

Verdict: Boy

Food Cravings
Your favorite pregnancy foods may tell you what sex the baby is. If you're craving citrus while pregnant, you're having a girl.

Verdict: Boy. I have not craved anythign citrus.

Adult Acne
If altering hormones makes your skin break out, expect a girl.

Verdict: Boy. My skin has actually improved for the most part.

Graceful or Clumsy Pregnancy
If you feel as though you're gliding through they day, you'll have a girl. Stumbling? It's a boy.

Verdict: Boy

Face Weight Gain
If your face gets fuller, it means you're having a girl.

Verdict: undetermined. Maybe someone can help me out here......

Sugar and Spice Food Cravings
Craving salt during pregnancy? Potato chips, pretzels, and popcorn means a boy is on the way. Need a little something sweet? Ice cream, chocolate, and candy means you're having a girl.

Verdict: Girl. A slurpee a day.......

Mood Changes
If you're experiencing pregnant mood-swings, expect a baby girl to arrive soon.

Verdict: Girl

High or Low Pregnant Belly
If you're carrying the baby low on your stomach, expect a boy. If it's high, you're having a girl.

Verdict: undetermined yet

Baby Weight
If you're carrying baby in front, it's a boy. Is the baby weight spaced all around your middle? It's a girl.

Verdict: undetermined yet

Pendulum Test
Dangle a chain with a charm over your palm. If it swings back and forth: boy. In a circle: girl.

Verdict: Boy. Thank you Mindie.

Model Your Hands
"Show me your hands." If you would hold your hands palms up it's a girl. Down? You're having a boy.

Verdict: Boy

Toddler Advice
Get baby advice from a nephew or friend's little boy. If a toddler boy shows interest in your belly, you'll have a girl. If he ignores you, it's a boy.

Verdict: undetermined.

Eat Garlic
Guess the baby's sex by eating garlic. If the smell seeps out of your pores it's a boy. If there's no scent it's a little girl.

Verdict: undetermined. Had 40 clove garlic chicken and I never thought to ask anyone......

Key to Pregnancy
If you pick up a key by the round end, you're having a boy. If it's by the long end? A girl.

Verdict: Boy

Even and Odd Numbers
If your age and year of conception are both even or odd, it's girl. One even, one odd means a boy.

Verdict: Boy (24 and 2009)

Baby's Heartbeat
If the baby's heart beats more than 150 times per minute, you're pregnant with a girl. Less than 150, it's a boy.

Verdict: Boy (131)

Stress Test
A child tends to be of the same sex as the parent who is less stressed at the time of conception.

Verdict: Boy. Joel is always less stressed than me. :)

Dream Meanings
If you dream about having a girl while pregnant, you will wind up having a boy and vice versa.

Verdict: Boy. Dreamt about having a girl at about week 8.

Breast Size
If your right breast is larger than the left while pregnant, you are having a girl. If the left is larger, it's a baby boy.

Verdict: undetermined. Will have to ask Joel...... ;)

Anyways, this was just for fun! We will wait to know for sure, but these always make me laugh. Enjoy ~

Full House

Pregnancy Tickers

Yesterday was supposed to be the day we could hear the heartbeat, however we did not have any luck. Although the doctor was able to find the heartbeat (it ranged from 121 – 131), the Doppler was not able to amplify it enough for us to hear. I was a little sad yesterday and worried. I had read a lot about different reasons they cannot find the heartbeat and it is such a wide variety. If your uterus is slightly tilted, if the baby has not moved up yet, if your organs are blocking the way, if your child is sleeping instead of being active, and of course miscarriage. Finding the heartbeat relieved the fear of miscarriage as more and more people are finding no bleeding or cramping. Traditionally a miscarriage would be something obvious to a mother, but with this new and every growing trend, a mother to be can worry herself sick. Basically, when an ultrasound is done, they find no heartbeat. This is a scary thought, but considering all “symptoms” are still around and they were able to hear the heartbeat (whether we could or not) made me relax a little bit. Our next appointment is September 16th and we should be able to hear the heartbeat by then. So another date to look forward to!

I was also weighed and gained a total of 2lbs since my last appointment 3 weeks ago. The doctor liked that, but also said that is probably what is causing my arms to go numb when I sleep.

I have also joined a research study on pregnant women. I will meet with a nutritionist and attend an exercise program while they monitor my weight and eventually the weight of the baby. They are studying diabetes. There is no cost to join, and it is not invasive, so I thought I would sign up. The doctor signed the permission form yesterday. (I feel like I am going on a grade 6 field trip with a permission form, but they want to make sure you are low risk)

I have been sick all week and it is awful! Being pregnant, I cannot take any medication to help my stuffy nose, sore throat or plugged sinuses. I have gone through many Kleenex boxes, and am now hoping I am on the road to recovery. I figure I have had enough days of being sick.

As some people know, our – well my – concern about the dogs and the baby is growing. I am more worried than Joel, but that’s just how we both are. I was the one worried about bringing the dogs to Riverton, and they were fine. But this isn’t a simple one day trip like Riverton. Our dogs range from well behaved to complete – well Chaos. When we were at the vet on Monday I noticed a sign for a “Baby and Stork” class which I thought would be helpful. Joel agreed that we should look into it. Apparently someone else thinks we should do this as well, as there was a write up in the paper about the exact same class the next day. I read the article and am now sure we are making the right decision by signing up. The class does not teach the dog, but rather teaches the parents rules for the dog and preparing your home before the baby arrives. The class is in September, so it gives us plenty of time to set rules and expectations early for our 2 boys.

We are getting 2 new windows today! We are replacing our bedroom and kitchen windows which were the 2 in the worst shape. Next year, we plan to replace the nursery one as well as the basement bedroom. Our plan is to replace one side of the house a year, however for the front; we may do that in stages. Our bathroom window is symmetrical to our 3rd bedroom upstairs which makes it a little too big for the size of our bathroom. Plus, we have 3 huge windows and 3 angled windows in our living room which means that side of the house will cost a small fortune. Maybe we will get lucky and hydro will offer a rebate by then…. :)

I worked at the MRFA golf tournament on Tuesday. I forgot how much I missed dealing with people every day! I set up on a hole and we did a putting contest. (yes, it was on the tee box, but for safety I did not want to set up on the green on a par 3) I had a great time meeting many people, and ran into a lot of people I once knew from Boston Pizza. By 5:30pm I was ready to go home though, (a long day for a pregnant girl to be on her feet) so I packed up and probably missed about 6 teams. When I was walking back to the club house, a super nice gentleman named Bill offered me a ride. He even took a hole off to drive me since his team was headed in the other direction. He is from Arctic Glacier. He had been at my hole a few hours previously and so when he offered me the ride, I confirmed that was the company he was with. He couldn’t believe I would remember him! I laughed and told him I will see him in 2 years and still remember him. He told me I should go into sales and it made me chuckle. What a nice man though – hard to find gentleman now a days and he was top notch! I also ran into Bob Kolt from Russell Foods. Bob is also one of the best people I have had the opportunity to deal with! When Joel and I decided to buy Martin steak knives for Father’s Day one year very last minute, Bob actually drove down to the office to hand deliver them for me at 5:30pm on a Friday. (Russell is open until 4pm I think) He couldn’t believe I left BP, but was glad to hear I still have a relationship with them. Of course there were many other guys who I knew there, Nev from Diageo who had a baby boy in May. His wife was so cute at the BP Christmas party. He is quite tiny and was all baby. Nev is the gentleman who actually called me at MTEC the first week I started to congratulate me on the new position. Again, another remarkable guy. It was fun to remember all the good people I met at BP, and am thankful for all of those relationships.

After the tournament, I picked Joel up and we headed to Martin and Barb’s for dinner. Barb had invited us over with my parents to try a few new recipes on us from a heart healthy cookbook and they were great! I have never had cauliflower cooked in the oven before, and honestly, I am not sure I would cook it any other way! It was fabulous. Cauliflower that was fabulous?! I know, but it was! We also had 40 cloves of garlic chicken which was so tasty. I am a garlic lover (as is my family) and the chicken was tender and juicy. I love going over for dinner during the week so this was a wonderful treat!

Well that is all for now, enjoy ~

Sweet Emotions

This past week has been exciting in so many ways! I have hit 12 weeks which means we are out of the “high risk” section for miscarriages. Week 24 will be the next major event for us, as anytime after that the doctors can save the baby should something happen. So although we are at a lower risk, we are still not totally in the clear.

My emotions have been every where this week. I have cried watching movies, TV, reading books, and looking around our house. I even took a mental health day last week because of it! I woke up, went to the washroom and started to cry. I saw the laundry piled up, the messy house, the dishes that needed to be finished, dinner that I had not even thought about, and decided work was not an option. Now for those of you who have never dealt with pregnancy hormones, you might be thinking “Aren’t you overreacting a bit Ash?!” And I can honestly tell you in my sane mind, yes. However in my blurred pregnancy mind, this was something I just could not deal with. I have not had many of these – let’s call them episodes but they really are uncontrollable and just kind of sneak up on you.

This weekend Joel was sick. He actually threw up which I have never seen him do! He told me Friday he was not feeling great and my Sunday morning he was in the bush throwing up. (we were out at Lilac) So there was no progress on the house renovations this weekend. He is still not well, but hopefully a couple of nights rest will help him feel better.

Saturday I went shopping and found a new maternity shirt! It was a black stretchy material. I even tried it on with the little belly pillow and it should fit for quite some time. I will have Joel take pictures later this week and post them.

Sunday morning was a terrible experience! Since Joel was sick, I ran the dogs with my dad on the golf cart. I took Monster even though normally I take Chaos when Joel and I go. Well things were going well until our last corner. A boy on a bike came around the corner quickly and Monster went after him – unfortunately in front of the cart! My reflexes were not fast enough, nor was the leash short enough, so he ended up run over! I felt horrible and sick to my stomach. His leg was bleeding in two/three different spots, so I was going to have dad hold him on the cart while I walked Chaos home, but Monster wanted to be with his mommy. So I ended up walking with Monster home, and Chaos rode with dad. (made me feel a bit bettr that his leg was not broken) When we got back to the site we bandaged him up. When we got home, he slept most of the day and night and did not eat. Of course, this does not sit well with a mom, so I was really worried. This morning my dad picked him up and took him to the vet. They told me they would x-ray his leg, and would have to put him down if he needed stitches. When I called at 1pm, they told me they had not seen his chart, but the vet had asked I called back at 3pm. When I called the second time, they said he would be ready for 5:30pm. I asked if his leg was broken, but it looks like it was not this time! I am so relieved but can not wait to pick him up!

Today was supposed to be our last day of our golf league, but like most of the season, we were rained out. We were invited to come to the clubhouse and hang out, but neither Barb or I were really up for that.

Tomorrow I am at the MFRA golf tournament working on a hole monitoring a putting contest. It should be fun, except that I am on the hole by myself. If I would have preplanned, I could have invited someone to join me. Oh well, it is only for a few hours and then I will pick up Joel and we will be off to Martin and Barb's for a heart healthy dinner! (I love days like that when I don't have to cook. Being invited over during the week is a huge stress reliever for me)

Well I will write later this week after we (again hopefully) hear the heartbeat and tell you about that experience.

But for now, that is all. Enjoy ~

Stuck in the Middle

As you may have noticed, all my post titles have also been song titles, however that is about to change. I will be shifting into talking about my pregnancy and searching for song titles every week doesn’t sound practical, so back to normal titles we go.... but not until next week.

This weekend was relaxing and exciting all mixed together! I spent a quite Friday night with Joel watching movies we rented. I picked out Coraline, 17 again, and Obsessed. Joel is usually pretty restless when we watch movies, so it was nice that he actually watched all three with me.

Saturday I went shopping with my sister for a wedding we are attending early September. I was frustrated and losing motivation, so I’m glad Sarah came with me. I tried on multiple dresses (however only one from a maternity store as everything was so casual and the wedding is “black tie optional) and I showed in a very bad way. I am kind of “in between” right now. If you know I am pregnant, then I have a cute little bump that is firm, however if you did not know, it would simply look like I picked an unflattering dress! I am so emotional that luckily I did not cry when I tried stuff on, however that was because I kept things light with humor and showing Sarah how ridiculous I looked. We finally went into Laura/Laura Petites which is where I bought my grad dress almost 7 years ago (has it really been that long?!). With the help of a wonderfully helpful sales woman I managed to find 2 dressy tops that I could pair with my black maternity pants. I was feeling a bit better, however knowing what everyone else has chosen to wear was making me feel a little self conscious. I was telling my mom my dilemma, and sure enough the dress she wore to my wedding fits me now. And even better, you cannot tell I am a preggo! I love it and feel much better to be in a dress!

I also got my hair cut – it is now about shoulder length and it feels great! It was really dried out and looking fairly gross, so Mel fixed it for me! I like going to see Mel because I never have to answer stupid questions like “What style were you going for”. Mel knows that I trust her, I mean this is her profession and she is good at what she does, so why should I go in there and tell her what to do?! I have always been extremely happy with my hair from Mel which is not what I would say about my previous hair stylist.

I picked up Joel after shopping and we headed out to Ste. Anne for Chinese food for Mel’s birthday. This is a tradition she has done for a few years now and it is always a good time. This year because I am so tired and Joel needed to work on the basement, we just went for dinner and then headed back into the city. Normally, we would have eaten then gone to Lilac for a party at the band. Mel decided she wanted to theme her birthday (similar to Kevin’s pirate party) and suggested the 80’s! Although Joel and I did not dress up (anyone who knows me knows how I feel about dress up) there were some great costumes! Kevin even went and bought a mullet wig in his color hair. I could barely look at him without laughing in hysterics. There was of course a lot of neon, and leg warmers, however no one had a fanny pack……

I started a new book yesterday, and although I am not normally one to “review” books, this one is hilarious! For anyone who is or has been pregnant, I would seriously recommend it. It is called “Knocked Up – Confessions of a Modern Mother-to-be” by Rebecca Eckler. The beginning starts where the main character does not want to be pregnant and has “The Fear”, moves into how she interprets advice from friends and complete strangers on being pregnant, talks about her paranoia, her delusional view of her new body and discusses her complains about many of her other “symptoms” all while sticking to a three trimester schedule. Having just about completed my first trimester, and reading lots about the second and third as for what I can expect, this book brought huge smiles to my face.

Last week was a tough week in how I was feeling, and although I am feeling better in some ways, I feel worse in others. I am still tired all the time, and likely could spend days and days in bed, but I am not nauseous at all anymore. I was getting into an afternoon slump where I was feeling quite bad at about 3pm, but it seems that may have past. Slurpees – although totally not healthy or great for me/baby – have been my weakness. It is my one craving, and I get one almost every day. I figure I do not smoke, do not drink alcohol, do not drink coffee or tea, etc. that this would be ok to “indulge” in. I am eating fairly healthy and trying to make sure I get enough vegetables and fruit. My mother in law Barb sent fruit home with my on Saturday (along with chocolate covered strawberries) and I went shopping Sunday so I have been snacking on that.

I really want to go raspberry picking, but Joel is not interested. I need to find a picking partner. I know it is a lot of work, but I think it would be fun! I have not been picking since I was a little kid and I probably ate more than I picked. :)

Well that is all for now ~ 8 days until we can (maybe) hear the heartbeat! They are going to try and find it at my next doctor’s appointment which does not always work, but I’m excited for the experience.

Enjoy~

Just the Two of Us (plus one on the way)

We have had an exciting few weeks, but now that the news is out, I feel relieved and very happy to share my news with everyone! We have a new addition coming into the family early March and we could not be happier! Although our family has known for some time now, it has been hard to keep it a secret.

I “sprung” the news on Joel with a note from Monster and Chaos that sais “We are going to be big brothers” and an “I love my daddy” bib all in a gift bag with the home pregnancy test. Joel’s face was priceless and I nearly started crying. I decided that although the home pregnancy test was accurate enough to tell him, I should visit the doctor before we shared our news with the family. Joel quickly showered and near the end of June we confirmed we were pregnant at the walk in clinic. Now that I heard a real doctor say it, I could barely hold my excitement. We went home, got our puppies and went to pick up “I love my grandma/grandpa” bibs. We showed up at my parent’s house and to some disappointment my father was out at Lilac. He was working, but my mom was in town. Although she was in the shower, I placed in the bib on the bedroom door handle so when she got out she would see it. Mom yelled down the stairs “Ashley – are you trying to tell me something?!”. When I said yes, I thought she was going to cry right then and there. She was so excited. Although I got a hug, the bigger hug went to Joel. I called my dad and he was quite happy as well, although I was sad I couldn’t tell him in person. We didn’t stay long since we still had to share our news with Joel’s parents and make a phone call up to Riverton. When we arrived, Joel was very sly. He had folded the bibs into a tight little square and placed them on the dining room table. Barb was just getting off the phone with Sarah, when I motioned to Martin to take a look. He opened them up, and both Martin and Barb were ecstatic! Minutes later I called Sarah (even though it is Joel’s sister, he wanted me to call) to share our news with that part of our family. Sarah screamed. She has instant emotion, so her first reaction truly is how she feels when she hears any news. Her excitement made me laugh as she bragged about being an auntie. Jay wasn’t home, but I’m sure the minute he walked through the door he knew. I was glad our family was so supportive and excited for us. They have made things so much easier for us, and we really are grateful.

When we went camping with Sarah and Jay I was already showing, going to be bathroom frequently, and sleeping A LOT! Sarah laughed as we hiked to the bathroom every 20 minutes or so. I did take only one nap while we were out there, but when we got home I slept the entire day!

This week I have been feeling worse than I have so far. Although the nauseous feeling is coming and going throughout the day (mid-afternoon seems to be the worst unless I sleep until mid-morning), the tired unmotivated feeling is starting to get to me. I need to break this feeling, but I am not sure how. My mom came over yesterday and cleaned the house for me as well as made dinner, and my mother in law weeded and watered my garden! It was a huge relief and I felt a big weight off my shoulders. I am still not in the clear yet, but I am hoping to get back into a routine soon.

On Wednesday I was feeling quite bad in the morning so I called in sick. By about noon I started to feel better so I showered and called my father in law to see if he wanted to go shopping. We went to Babies R Us to look at crib sets, change tables, and while we were there strollers. I found a really nice crib and change table that match. They are a dark wood and the crib converts to a day then double bed. (However that is only applicable for the last little one) We will not order it until probably November sometime, but I wanted to see what was out there. After I dropped Martin off, I stopped at the Bay. There was another one there that was nice, but I like the Babies R Us one just a little bit more. By the time I got home, I was back to feeling bad so I spent the remainder of the night in bed.

I was disappointed to learn that the US Babies R Us will not ship to Canada which is where I had found the crib bedding I liked. (monkeys – go figure!) Luckily Uncle Ron had an address in the states where we can mail it to. It is only about an hour and a half from here. So I will order it then make a road trip to Pembina, North Dakota. I want to get it fairly soon so that we can pick out the paint colors for the nursery. We are thinking cream and light green. When Joel and I go pick it up, he promised we could stop at St. Jean Baptist for poutine. Although I have never had the poutine there, I heard about it on the radio. Apparently they have at least 10 different kinds to try..... I get hungry just thinking about it.

My mom has offered to paint the nursery for us on September 19th which is when we are planning another trip up to Riverton to visit Sarah and Jay. Joel is excited because Jay has Rock Band, and we are planning a Harry Potter marathon. Neither Joel nor I have seen any of the movies, so we are excited to catch up and spend another great night with family. I always feel bad for Sarah and Jay because they are always coming into the city for one thing or another. (especially birthdays, holidays, etc.) Since visiting them and finding we can make it work with the dogs, we are going to try and make more of an effort to visit them instead of always making them visit us. In the winter it may not work, but we can always see if my parents will watch the puppies while we head up for the night.

I have golf on Monday that I am going to try and force myself to go to. Last week I wasn’t feeling great. I am having a really hard time with it because it is at the start of the week and I end up feeling tired for the remainder by trying to catch up on sleep from this night out. This week, unless it is raining, I am going! I just need to keep telling myself this.

This weekend Joel and I have a pretty low key weekend. Tonight since it is raining, we plan to rent a movie and cuddle on the couch. Life has been so full of excitement (both good and bad) lately that a quiet evening will do us some good. Tomorrow we are heading out to Ste. Anne to celebrate Mel’s birthday! We surprised her at her house on Wednesday (her actual birthday thanks to Kevin's careful planning) but it was fairly low key. (Because it was during the week) We are only meeting them for dinner and then heading back to the city. (They will carry on back to Lilac for the band) Sunday Joel will continue to work on the basement. He has a little electrical to finish before ordering the drywall and moving the fridge out from the laundry room. Once those things are done, the stairs come down! We are hoping to have our basement done by the end of September. My cousin is a drywall/taper so he will be helping Joel with the walls and ceiling. Joel wired their new house (they only had switch plug instead of lights – Joel installed all new lights for their bedrooms, living room, and dining room) so Ryan is happy to exchange the favor. I can’t wait for that room to be finished!

Joel is also adding a second room beside the laundry room that will be used for the dog kennels. Currently they are in what will be the nursery, so that needs to change. We are going to put linoleum down to make it easy to sweep and I think we will need to look for something to put on the walls that is easy to wipe down or paint them a darker color. The boys bring in a lot of dirt and hair, and white baseboards and walls don’t do them any favors. I am hoping that section will be done by September 19th when my mom paints.

Well those are all the updates I have for now, enjoy ~

Hush Little Baby

Well the news is finally out and I could not be happier! Joel and I are expecting a new addition in the spring. Although we are still fairly early by some standards, I have started to show (and have for awhile). The doctor said this is because I am so short and have a short middle. Our family has known for some time now, and have been really supportive. Actually, when Martin was in the hospital I think he was more worried about me than about himself! I will write a longer post later this week about our weekend and sharing the news, but for now this is all.

Enjoy ~

Silent Night

This weekend was full of excitement, sleep, family, and more sleep!

Friday Joel and I did minor errands. Joel had to finish hooking up the washing machine at Martin and Barb’s condo (it was missing a washer), we had to pick up a few things left at their old house before Saturday possession, and we stopped by my parents to get a couple things too. We were home early which was nice, so we just relaxed in bed watching TV.

Joel had to work Saturday, so I went shopping with my mom. I probably have not been to the mall in 2 years so it was a fun trip. We went to a few shops in and around the mall and I bought a new pair of jeans, and a pair of black dress pants for work. The pants need to be hemmed, but most of my pants do, so I’m not really surprised. I will take them in next week to get done. I also went to Sevala’s to pick up cabbage rolls, but they were closed for the long weekend, so I ended up on Nairn at a small little shop called Julia’s. I have eaten there once before, but really could not tell you my “review” since it was many years ago. I picked up a tray of cabbage rolls for myself (Joel will not eat them) and enjoyed my supper! While I was on Nairn I did a little shopping down the strip too, which proved to be a waste of time, but hey no harm in looking. Sarah and Jay stopped in before we headed out to Lilac. Joel has an Xbox 360 with a hard drive, but it is no longer working. With all the new things we have going on, Joel really could not see fixing the Xbox anytime soon, so he gave it to Jay along with a few other Xbox accessories. It surprises me how well Jay, Sarah and us get along. Besides being family, Sarah and Jay have become some of our closest friends. We have asked them a huge favor and they accepted while we were camping for the weekend, which takes a lot of worry off of us for the future ahead.

We spent Saturday night at Lilac but stayed at the campsite. Friends Mandi and Braydon stopped by for a quick visit. I probably have not seen then in 2 years, so it was great to catch up. Plus Mandi is a huge dog lover and she was able to meet our boys. We stayed until dinner time on Sunday. My mom made an excellent meal of artichoke stuffed chicken, broccoli, cucumber salad, and sweet potato. It was so yummy! My mom really is a great cook.

Sunday night we drove back into the city and over to Joel’s uncle’s place. His daughter Christine is in from out of town and this was the first time I met her, her husband Mike, and their 2 daughters. (plus one of their daughter’s boyfriend) We arrived later than most of the family, but also stayed much later too. I believe Joel and I left at 10:30 or 11pm. Joel was drinking rye which he has only ever done once in front of me. I also believe that will be the last time.

Monday I spent the entire day in bed. I was up 3 times to eat, and once to pick Joel up from dropping off the jeep. We are selling the jeep so he had to take it to get safetied. I couldn’t believe the entire day was wasted, but I felt great this morning, so it was well worth it.

We are going over to Martin and Barb’s tonight to put up the wall mount TV unit. Sarah is back in helping Martin and Barb out for this week. It is great that she has the summers off so that she can come into the city. (Although she may not think the same) We may also stop by for a quick visit to my grandma’s if time allows.

Tomorrow we are making plans to visit Joel’s grandparents and Thursday I have a doctor’s appointment. Friday we have a staff day. We are “working” 10-6, but the office is closed. We are spending the day in Selkirk at Christine’s lot. She has a big shop (in case it rains), pontoon boat, volleyball courts, and many other fun games! We are eating lunch out there and will spend the day enjoying each other outside of work. I am quite excited about it.

I have to work on Sunday with Marc monitoring Taxi exams, but it should only be 4 hours or so. It is a good way to bank some time. I will need it since I used some of it last week to help my in-laws, and for my doctor’s appointment this week.

Well, that’s it for now – enjoy ~
